Software Research and Development and Consultancy Ltd. (SRDC), Turkey

SRDC Ltd. (www.srdc.com.tr) is a spin-off company of the Middle East Technical University, Software Research and Development Center, located in the METU’s techno park. SRDC enjoys strong backing from METU for transferring the RTD efforts of the university to the industry and the government. The company has extensive expertise in large scale software development, eHealth, eBusiness, Interoperability Standards and Internet technologies. The company is providing consultancy to the Ministry of Health in Turkey for the National Health Information System (NHIS), Turkey and the Revenue Administration of Turkey for the development of the eInvoicing Profile of Turkey.
SRDC team has successfully completed several European Commission supported projects, including, INCO-DC 97 2496 MARIFlow project (as a Scientific and Technical Coordinator of the project), IST-2000-26429 HERMES project (as the scientific and technical coordinator), IST-2000-31050 Agent Academy (as a partner), IST-1-002104-STP SATINE (as coordinator), IST-1-002103-ST ARTEMIS (as coordinator), IST-027074 SAPHIRE (as coordinator) and IST-027065-RIDE (as coordinator). SRDC team has extensive experience in developing large scale software projects.
The founding director of SRDC, Dr. Asuman Dogac has successfully coordinated four projects in FP6 programme. The SRDC Team is extremely experienced in developing Service Oriented Architecture based interoperability solutions for eHealth domain, and has successfully demonstrated such an example system in the ARTEMIS Project (www.srdc.metu.edu.tr/webpage/projects/artemis/). In addition to these the SRDC Team has successfully implemented a Clinical decision support system automation based on clinical guidelines within the scope of SAPHIRE project (www.srdc.metu.edu.tr/webpage/projects/saphire/).

Tasks attributed to SRDC and relevant prior experience
SRDC will be the coordinator of iCARDEA. Additionally, SRDC will be responsible for the design of the conceptual model of iCARDEA, the development of iCARDEA CIED based adaptive care planner and its security component, the development of consent management system and its security; the development of the interoperability layer including EHR interoperability (together with FORTH), code mapping system and the related security privacy mechanisms. SRDC will also be responsible from the integration of the iCARDEA components through adaptive care planner. Finally SRDC will lead the exploitation of the project.
SRDC Team has successfully coordinated many EC projects including Artemis, SAPHIRE and RIDE projects in eHealth domain. The group has strong expertise on the interoperability of eHealth applications, and implementation of healthcare monitoring systems via clinical decision support systems and clinical guidelines.

SRDC Ltd. (Turkey) has extensive RTD work on eHealth including:

  • SRDC contributed to the development of National Health Information Systems (NHIS) of Turkey as a consultant to the Ministry of Health, Turkey. NHIS, Turkey is based on the HL7 CDA R2 standard and uses HL7 Web services profile to communicate the CDAs.
  • SRDC Ltd. has also developed a simple code mapping API for the Ministry of Health, Turkey based on UMLS/KS to expose the proprietary interfaces of their Health Coding Reference Server. With the iCARDEA Project, SRDC will improve this code mapping API by basing it to the HL7 Common Terminology Services (CTS) standard interfaces.
  • SRDC has also developed semantically enriched Web services for eHealth interoperability, a message exchange framework for providing the interoperability of HL7 v2.x messages with HL7 v3 messages, tools for providing clinical statement interoperability in Electronic Healthcare Records (EHRs) and semi-automated deployment of clinical guidelines.
  • SRDC has a track record in eHealth RTD. Some selected publications are as follows:
