Tasks attributed and relevant prior experience
Medtronic will take role in CIED related tasks such as CIED based Personalized Adaptive Care Planner Engine, Exposing CIED Data through Standard Interfaces. Medtronic will provide standards-compliant (HL7 preferred) data sets of ICD data from patients who will take part in the study. Additionally, Medtronic will provide experts of ICDs to guide researchers in integrating Medtronic remote facilities into the intended iCARDEA Platform.
The Medtronic CareLink Network is a remote patient management system that supports and integrates onto one platform the combination of devices ranging from pacemakers, ICDs, CRT-Ds and ICMs. This comprehensive tool makes remote management available to new patients and to those already treated with device therapy or diagnostics. Prospective trials have shown that the Medtronic CareLink Network can offer a safe and feasible solution, allowing time and cost savings for follow-up visits in patients with heart devices. Earlier management of clinical events may also improve overall patient care according to studies. To date, more than 450 hospitals in Europe already manage more than 12,000 patients at risk of heart failure and atrial fibrillation through the Medtronic CareLink Network.
Furthermore, Medtronic is developing a system called Paceart that aims to organize relevant patient, device and programmer information to help the physician meet the clinic management challenge. The objectives of Paceart are in parallel with the objectives of iCARDEA; hence both parties will benefit from each other. At the end, perfect exploitation for the European industry will be achieved.
Medtronic treasures expertise in implantable arrhythmia management systems & clinical research along with a fluent relationship with key opinion leaders and experts in the cardiology field.
